Dale Currey is founder and day to day manager of the nursery and planting services. He graduated from Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (N.A.I.T) Forestry Program in 1974, and also earned an associate degree with the Canadian Institute of Forestry in 1987. He started his career in Forestry, working for Blue Ridge Lumber..
He branched out on his own in 1984, with his first nursery seedling contract. He started with one small greenhouse in his back yard, and then he began expand.
He founded Currey Reforestation Ltd. (CRL) in 1988 with the addition of 10,000 square feet of greenhouse space. CRL continued to add growing space until 1992, as the demand for seedlings steadily increased. To date CRL has now grown and delivered over 30 million local native tree seedlings in Western Canada.
Since the beginning CRL has grown local, native trees and shrubs including species such as hybrid Poplars, native Aspen, Spruce and Pine. Many Alberta farmers have benefited from these sturdy breeds for reclaiming farm land or establishing shelter-belts for live stock or wind protection.
In the 1990’s CRL serviced governmental lands with replanting highway right-of-way’s, creek crossing restorations, including 3 major coal mining companies with the necessary inventory for regulatory reclaimed areas.
In recent years CRL has been working with construction companies to grow, supply and plant Alberta grown Willows and Poplars on pipeline right of ways, various creek and roadway crossings, compressor stations and other projects requiring trees or shrubs as sound or wind barriers.
CRL has also established itself as one of Alberta's premier suppliers of Live Stakes for bio-engineering, reclamation, and constructions services.
CRL has proudly worked with regional and governmental agencies for over 25 years providing consultative and planting services of native seedlings for well-site reclamation, hydro dam projects and other major initiatives in Alberta.
